I was a student at the University from 68 - 73, and around 1969 Dr. Lotti was my landlord.  I rented a small cinder block home that was on Montebello Circle from her.  When I would visit her monthly to deliver the rent check she would tell me some stories of her life.  She mentioned that the home I was renting was her clinic.  She would see patients on the first floor and live on the second floor.  Apparently being a woman doctor in 1925, and also a Catholic Italian was not very popular socially at the time.  She mentioned that she mostly tended to the poor and especially poor women and black women.  She also said that many of them could not afford to pay her so she was paid in trade, such as food, chickens, services.  I have some photos of the original home and will be glad to send you Jpeg copies.

Best regards,

Frank Vannini
