This “Country Store at Carter’s Bridge” was built and operated by my paternal grandparents, William Compton and Ada Huffman Thacker but I am not sure of the dates. It is located at the intersection of State Routes 20 and 627 just before Route 20 crosses over the Hardware River. The Carter’s Bridge Post Office was located in this building and Ada Thacker served as the last Postmistress.
