Description: McChalva was the name of the yearbook for the McIntire High School in Charlottesville, Virginia. The name came from a combination of McIntire, Charlottesville, Albemarle, and Virginia. McIntire High School opened in 1937 for Albemarle County's white public school students. It housed grades 1 to high school. After the consolidated Albemarle High School opened in 1953, McIntire became an elementary school, housing 1st through 7th grades. The school closed in the 1970s.
