Biographical/Historical Information: County fairs in Central Virginia began in the 1800s. They were a place to celebrate harvests, show off produce, and view or purchase farm equipment. In the early 1900s county fairs added entertainment such as games, carnival rides, and pageants.
Scope and Content: The catalog lists rules and regulations for the 1914 fair. Cash prizes, entrance fees, rules on age of animals and advertisements for farm equipment, feed, and Virginia businesses are listed.
