Biographical/Historical Information: John Cree was born around 1829 in Ireland and immigrated to the United States. His wife Janet and children joined him in Virginia six months later. They purchased property in Crozet, Virginia in 1880. John Cree died in 1904. His wife Janet died in 1929. Members of the Cree family were buried in St. Paul's Church in Ivy, Virginia.
Scope and Content: This is a manuscript compiled by E.M. Mann, about the Cree family who settled in Crozet, Virginia around 1880. Brief biographies and family memories of John Cree ( -1904), Janet Crawford Cree ( -1929), Margaret Sophia Cree (1866-1954), Robert Edgar Cree (1867-1943), St. John Cree (1872-1949), Howard Edward Fletcher (1874-1943), Ann Mann (an Irish nurse for the Cree children), and Jessie Jackson (an African American man who cooked and kept house for the Cree family) are included, along with a list of wills and deed references from the Albemarle County Courthouse. Five pages of photocopied photographs of family members are at the end of the manuscript.
