Biographical/Historical Information: Robert Merrill Hubbard (1909-1988) was a University of Virginia professor of chemical engineering, joining the faculty in 1946. Along with his wife Frances, he was actively involved with the Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society, serving as an ambassador to other local historical and genealogical societies, and acquiring papers, books, and photographs for the Society's collection. He also authored History of the Chemical Engineering Department, University of Virginia, 1908-1976.
Scope and Content: This collection contains two excerpts from the work Genealogies of the Hubbard and Associated Families of Northern Indiana, compiled by Robert M. Hubbard (Charlottesville, Va.), 1970. The first excerpt is the family of John Carter (1690-1741), 6p. The second excerpt is the family of Charles Spencer (1771-1829) of Richmond and Charlottesville, Virginia, 6p.
