Biographical/Historical Information: The McGuffey Arts Center is located in the former historic McGuffey elementary school building in downtown Charlottesville. It was established in 1975 and is one of the oldest artist-run cooperative art centers in the country.
Scope and Content: This is a printed scrapbook of the McGuffey Art Center, 1975-2005, and features newspaper clippings and images of the artists-in-residence. Also included are photocopies of floorplans of the building, and a report, "Perspective for a preliminary draft outlining the history of the McGuffey school building, Charlottesville, Va., 1916-2006" compiled by Richard Thrift.
