Biographical/Historical Information: The Civic League of Charlottesville and Albemarle began on 4 October 1951 with a meeting at the home of Miss Evelina Magruder. The organization's goal was to sponsor and aid in plans for preservation of historical sites and monuments in Charlottesville and Albemarle County.
Scope and Content:
This is a collection of meeting minutes, correspondence, and other publications from the Civic League. The collection has been divided into 3 folders:
Folder 1: Bulletins, May 1965 – Fall 1979.
Folder 2: Correspondence and miscellaneous, including by-laws and member lists, 1952-1978.
Folder 3: Organization and meeting minutes. There are 22 sub-folders, each containing meeting minutes from years 1951 to 1977.
