Biographical/Historical Information: Reverend Patrick Henry Jones (1831-1898) was born in Scottsville (Albemarle County, Virginia) to James and Lucy Allen Jones. He received his early education in the Scottsville Academy and at age 18 was the editor of the Scottsville Independent. He entered Bethany College in West Virginia, graduating in 1854. He married Frances George of Washington County, Pennsylvania. He later moved to South Carolina, where he lived on the plantation of Col. Cockrell and taught a private school. In 1856 he accepted the pastorate of the Christian Church in Lisbon, Ohio and preached for over forty years. After retiring from the ministry, he became mayor of Wellsville, Ohio. He died March 4, 1898.
