Biographical/Historical Information: The Wiant family of Albemarle County, Virginia began with John Weygandt [Wiant] who emigrated to Albemarle County, Virginia from Germany around 1776. He and his wife Mary had 8 children, 5 of whom later pioneered in Champaign County, Ohio.
Scope and Content: This collection contains photocopies of 4 pages of the Wiant Family Bible Records, 1783-1854, plus a handwritten note: "Wiant Family Records from their Bible. This was given to Dabney Wiant of West Columbia, South Carlolina. Their old family home was called "Pleasant Retreat" near White Hall [Albemarle County, Virginia]. His mother lives in Charlottesville."
